Over 1,500 residents have already enrolled in the Chicago solar program called “Solar Chicago” that launched in July with the goal of catalyzing installations within the city.
“This program provides a direct benefit to homeowners who can now take advantage of all of the benefits of solar power, from reduced energy bills to lowering carbon emissions, to promoting green, environmentally responsible initiatives.” According to Microgrid Solar CEO Rick Hunter. Microgrid was recently selected to help spearhead the effort in the Windy City.
Solar Chicago is provided with the help of the CIty of Chicago, World Wildlife Fund, ELPC and Vote Solar. It targets the city and surrounding communities to help with arranging group discounts that help bring down the installation costs. Similar programs have been run across Massachusetts, called “Solarize“, with a great deal of success.
